Ethereal desert bridal style

Oct 10, 2014 | Inspiration

We have a love/hate relationship when we receive submissions like this White Sands styled wedding shoot from Heather Hawkins Photography and stylist Lindsey Zamora. You see we love the editorial style of this bridal inspiration (perfect for a destination wedding!) but just hate having to narrow down the images for a blog post! The stunning backdrop of New Mexico is perfect to let the embellishment shine through from the white dress and the soft hues of the other layered gowns take centre stage.

From shoot producer, Naomi Pak: "We allowed the otherworldly landscape of White Sands National Monument to inspire every detail of this bridal shoot. Situated in the Tularosa Basin of New Mexico, miles of beautiful white dunes are formed from selenite crystals broken down into fine grains of sand. This setting evokes a sense of calm and understated beauty, and is seemingly unmarked by time."

"Stylist Lindsey Zamora carried this concept into the selection of minimal, yet fashion forward gowns by Naeem Khan, Rick Owens and Rubicon. The gowns came in an array of ethereal fabrics in natural hues. As we shot at sunrise and sunset, both the sky and the sand were washed in subtle shades of pink, orange, blue and purple. We chose to forgo florals and most accessories to showcase our unique environment. The movement of the gowns and bride’s windblown hair breathed energy into the otherwise tranquil scenes, and paper goods adorned with Mia Carameros’ loose, organic calligraphy further reflected the mood of our location. The images captured on film by Heather Hawkins are a celebration of timeless, unembellished beauty, as embodied by the glow of a bride and the simple but stunning terrain of White Sands."
